SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The Social Services Department has the enormous responsibility of managing the Health Care
Program of the Argentine Federation of Electricity Workers (OSFATLYyF). OSFATLyF grants
its beneficiaries full welfare coverage, from primary assistance to high complexity practices,
including organ transplants.
In the last decades, health care in Argentina has suffered serious damage, due both to public
hospital deficiencies and high tariffs in private medicine. Today, it is clear that Health
Care is the only System that really protects the working family's welfare. While prepaid
medical insurance plans are only interested in gaining high income workers, Health Care
Programs offer their services using a criterion of solidarity beyond any mercantilist or
materialistic speculation.
OSFATLyF, pioneer in the provision of social services since the 50s, currently has a
well-deserved prestige in the market and has opened its doors to all the community,
becoming an efficient system of health management where almost 90% of the resources is
allocated to medical assistance. Apart from prioritizing preventive medicine campaigns,
only during the year 2004 OSFATLyF assisted 320,171 patients and performed 68,308 dental
practices, and it also offered a totally free maternity plan for mothers and children.
While curing an illness is absolutely necessary, it is even more important to preserve
the working family health and quality of life.
